DESIGN NOTES:
I created this concept graphic based on the information you provided during our meeting as well as content from the section in your book about the strategy of title matching. I went ahead and moved beyond a sketch phase since the concept was already pretty solidified, and it seemed like what you really wanted was to make sure the illustration style would match your vision.
I like to create titles and labels for graphics like this to make them easy to understand at a glance. So, I pulled from some of your text to clarify what’s happening in the illustration.
We talked about how a comic style could work for the illustration, but that it needed to be more sophisticated. So, I combined a more graphic style with a silhouette and pulled inspiration from WPA posters for the landscape. There’s also a little James Bond in there, for kicks.
I created a line around the entire graphic to make it more formal and intentional. In addition, I gave it the real estate it needed in the text layout based on the importance of this concept.
